Our bridge access solutions allow safe, efficient, and adaptable work platforms in even the most challenging conditions — including heights over 800 feet.
Redefining Access at Unprecedented Heights
Gordie Howe International Bridge Project
Klimer Platforms was contracted to design, fabricate, and install a customized access and material handling solution for the Gordie Howe International Bridge, the longest main span of any cable-stayed bridge in North America (2.5 km total length). Our role was to provide platforms that allowed personnel to safely install stay cables on pylons rising 800 ft above the ground/water.

Key Features of the Solution:
- Modified Klimerlite Platforms for variable widths (17 ft extended to 5 ft retracted)
- Platform extensions with multi-directional movement to access all cable anchor points
- Vertical travel between tightly spaced upper stay cables (as narrow as 5 ft apart)
- 3D modeling for clearance validation and movement animation
- Safety-integrated design with limit switches, stable working surfaces, and customized method statements
- Full collaboration and on-site training with Bridging North America’s team
