Job Summary:

The individual will assemble, install and operate mast climbing work and transport platforms (powered scaffolding) on construction sites. Travel is expected and may extend to the United States as well as internationally. While on job sites you will be working with all levels of contacts. Being an effective, knowledgeable communicator is important.

Installers work in all types of weather (rain or shine) with 80% of your time being outdoors. Most of our equipment is installed for access to buildings at heights 3-4 floors plus. Being comfortable with heights is essential.

Skills required:

  • Mechanical skills are essential, and some hydraulic or electrical skills are an asset
  • Working at Heights (Fall Arrest) Certification
  • Previous experience in construction, landscaping or similar labour intensive work environment
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Customer service experience and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent English communication skills – both oral & written
  • Ability to read schematic drawings is an asset
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Willing to travel regularly, including overnight (travel expenses paid by employer)
  • Involves labour intensive, physically demanding work, therefore the ability to lift and carry safely is essential

Job Summary:

Responsible for the assembly, installation and start-up operation of Klimers mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs) and transport platforms (often referred to as powered scaffolding), Klimers Installations Technicians typically work in teams servicing our customers on a wide range of construction sites.  Based out of Klimers Milton, Ontario office, the Installation’s Tech position works and travels throughout the GTA and southern Ontario.  While on job sites you will be working with all levels of customer and sub-contractor contacts.

  • Customer service experience and strong interpersonal skills

    • Specific MCWP site specific configurations, training provided
    • Anchoring/base out/installation, training provided
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Willing to travel regularly, including periodic overnight travel (expenses paid by Klimer)
  • Involves physically demanding work including the use of power tools and the movement of large parts/equipment
  • Previous experience operating a forklift or zoom boom is an asset
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to the company’s safety procedures is critical

Your career as an Installations Technician starts as a 1st Term Apprentice and grows as you grow through 3rd term Apprentice to Journeyman/Foreman and Project Lead-Hand.

This position is ideal for the person looking to start a career in construction working toward a project manager role.  Klimer provides classroom training (internal/external) while you gain experience in the field.

Job Summary:

The individual will service and repair equipment, on site service calls and phone diagnostics. Maintain equipment to ensure rental ready and maintain an organized shop.

Most of our equipment is installed for access to buildings at heights 3 to 4 floors and higher. Being comfortable with heights is essential.

Job responsibilities include:

  •  Read and interpret customer site drawings.
  • Create proposal drawings.
  • Calculation of reaction forces.
  • Preparing Site installation drawings for mechanized scaffold system.
  • Design, detail, and inspection of custom fabricated steel components.
  • Analysis of structural load, deflection, and stress for customized applications of scaffold system, using FEA software. Interpretation of applicable standards and regulations as they are applied to the design of the devices.
  • Structural design and analysis of steel, concrete, masonry and wood components.
  • Develop and maintain system to manage drawings, revisions and engineering change notices.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, P.Eng or eligibility from an accredited University
  • Minimum five (5 ) years’ experience in design with an emphasis on structural analysis (consideration will be given to Structural Engineering applicants with a Mechanical aptitude)
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and SolidWorks software. Familiarity with structural design software is also favorable (Etabs, Safe, Stadd Pro etc.)
  • Must be able to work independently with collaboration and coordination as required.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to work in a team environment
  • Structural detailing experience with familiarity to the Building Codes and Structural Engineering practices
  • Excellent communication in the English language, and time management skills
  • Liaising with relevant professionals (architects, other engineers, contractors, property managers and owners)
  • Site travel as required; need access to vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • Field inspections, investigations and report writing.
